So grateful for all of you at this Christmas time! Thank you for the love, support, camaraderie, and encouragement! May this Christmas have a certain extraordinary appreciation as we go through it missing our usual gatherings.I wrote this several years ago... it remains true.It's almost Christmas time, when we celebrate the birthday of the Messiah and the great story ever told. History records the staggering account of Jesus' birth. Born in one of the smallest countries in the world, to a poor family, with no notable name, no influence, no authority in earthly realms, just an ordinary man and woman who said yes to an extraordinary calling. A young virgin, given the most incredible news; bestowed a most unusual destiny. One that would, in fact, mar her reputation with those who knew her, yet would eventually lead her to be part of the most inconceivable redemption gift since time began.Because of the Christ of Christmas, we can have total forgiveness, complete peace, abundant joy and contentment, even when we do not know how some things are going to work out in our lives. Isaiah 9:6 foretold God's plan for an incredible life, it says, "For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."In that one verse, we are given a promise and a hope that transcends every problem we might encounter. It tells us He is Wonderful which means He can be trusted. He is our Counsellor, which means He will guide us through the roughest spots with wisdom. He is Mighty, which says that His power is fiercely greater than any problem we face. He is an Everlasting Father, with unconditional love for us as His children. And if we need peace in our storm... He is the Prince of Peace... with all authority to speak calm to those winds of adversity. The reason for this season, Jesus is the gift Who never stops giving. It's a promise from God to us at Christmas and every day of the year.So grateful at this beautiful season that a King became a CHILD, a Prince became a Pauper, a Ruler became a Servant, the Creator became a Creation, a Lover became the Despised, so that I could be accepted. A Messiah became our Saviour and a Redeemer became our Defender... Merry Christmas.
